  Global Security Asia 2005
29-31 March 2005

In the immediate aftermath of the tragic events of September 11 and the more recent global acts of terrorism, political leaders and military planners around the world have been confronted with a new and potentially destabilising global threat which may be described through the term " ASYMMETRIC WARFARE ". Countries are now focused on developing their homeland defence policies and systems to include anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism measures, inter-agency cooperation using sophisticated equipment and technologies.

Responding to these challenges, the organisers of the IMDEX Asia Series are now launching Global Security Asia 2005 - the first combined Conference and Exhibition to focus exclusively on this new and fast expanding area of Asymmetric Warfare.

What is " Asymmetric Warfare "?

Until recently it was a little known name in the military lexicon. The US based National Defense University first made mention of it in their 1998 Annual Report. Although there are now many definitions to describe Asymmetric Warfare one that is commonly used is

" the unexpected and unconventional approach to undermine a nation's
strength by exploiting their weaknesses through the novel use of
existing technologies and through the application of unconventional
technology in an unexpected manner ".

This year, ALTRUS has showcased some of the latest high tech electronic surveillance equipment from SIM.  One of the highlight of this show was the ICCD-08 camera adopting the European's standard XD4 technology.  This is the latest Video Camera Technology for High-Performance video Observation, featuring :
